- Gordon Lee is elected to the Territorial Council.
- Major Alan Innes-Taylor, U.S. Army, a former member of the RCMP, heads the U.S. Arctic Training Centre. He later has a mountain named after him in Antarctica for his participation in the Byrd expedition to the southern continent.
- “The Belle of the Yukon” starring Gypsy Rose Lee and Randolph Scott is released. Set in the days of the great Canadian Gold Rush, this rousing musical stars Randolph Scott as a "reformed" con artist-turned-dance hall owner whose girlfriend, singer Gypsy Rose Lee, tries to keep him on the straight and narrow.
- Western Canadian Greyhound Ltd. begins a nation wide ad campaign to promote its service on the Alaska Highway.
