- The federal government contracts Canadian National Telegraphs (CNT) to maintain and operate the landline telephone network installed during the construction of the Alaska Highway.
- The Whitehorse Board of Trade is formed. A.E. Hardy is President with Bob Rowan as Secretary. Rolf Hougen is a founding member.
- Rolf Hougen is the official photographer for the dinner honouring Canadian military hero, Major-General Frank Worthington. During the dinner when a flash bulb exploded in Rolf’s camera, everyone jumped at the sudden noise, except the war-conditioned General.
- T.C. Richards is appointed Lt. Gov. of the Kiwanis Club of Yukon/ Alaska region.
