Yukon Territorial Courtroom

This picture taken in the Yukon Territorial courtroom shows Mr. Justice Maddison swearing in the new Commissioner Ione Christensen who was appointed on Jan 20, 1979 & resigned Oct 10, 1979 over disagreement with the changes brought about by Minister of Northern Development Jake Epp, P.C. In his letter to the Yukon Government the Commissioner's role became similar to a Provincial Lt. Governor, with no executive responsibilities.
